A small and portable but focused booklet encouraging people to be aware of their and others' mental health if in crisis, including how and where to seek help
Client: European Metal Recycling Ltd.
When: February - March 2021
With an initiative to reduce suffering amongst its employees, EMR commissioned me to write and design a booklet promoting mental health awareness in early 2021.
Unfortunately, I've suffered from depressive episodes in the past, so this project was very close to my heart and I was keen to help if able.
Using information I'd gathered from sources such as Samaritans and Mind, and drawing from personal experience in receiving Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I wrote the copy and used the circular shapes from EMR's new brand guidelines to represent those who do and do not suffer from mental health issues.
After a number of additions to the booklet's scope requested by the client and with me being asked to focus on another priority commission for EMR, the booklet was completed by their in-house designer and has been well received.
I hope that it's helped to educate people on the importance of taking mental health issues seriously and reduce the stigma in the workplace and wider society.
